Privacy policy

IP-City is a service provided by Ipswich Borough Council.

This privacy policy describes how Ipswich Borough Council, providing a service as IP-City Centre, will use the personal information collected when you visit the IP-City website.

Ipswich Borough Council is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

Any information you provide will be held securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Your personal details will not normally be disclosed to third parties (an exception being bodies responsible for auditing and administering public funds, in order to prevent and detect fraud). In some circumstances however we may need to disclose your personal details to a third party so that they can provide a service you have requested, or fulfil a request for information. Any information about you that we pass to a third party will be held securely by that party, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and used only to provide the services or information you have requested.

Accessing the information we hold

The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to see any data we hold on you (with a few exceptions) and to have it corrected if it is not accurate.

You can access the information we hold about you by making a Subject Access Request. This request can be made in writing or by email. Please provide as much detail as possible about the information you require, mark your request Subject Access Requests, and send it to:

There is a flat rate fee of £10 for subject access requests, determined by the Data Protection Act. You do not have to send the payment with the request but if you do not your request may be delayed while we contact you for payment.

The fee can be paid by sending a cheque or postal order made payable to ‘Ipswich Borough Council’. Alternatively, you can make a credit or debit card payment by telephoning 01473 433784, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm (please note, if you use a credit card to pay, a surcharge of 1.5% will be made reflecting the bank’s charge to the Council for accepting credit card payments).

Correcting data we hold

If you believe the data we hold about you is incorrect or that there is information that we have not supplied, you must contact us within 21 days of receiving our response to your request.

If we don’t agree that the information is incorrect, you can appeal using the Council’s normal complaints procedure.

You can also appeal to the Information Commissioner’s Office if we do not correct the data you ask us to.
